A Summary Of The Historical Activities
Founder: After Peter immigrated to Canada in November 2005 under Canada’s Skilled Workers Program, Peter visited Kenya in June 2007 where he meet few orphans whose parents were Peter’s previous schoolmates. The condition of these kids deeply affected Peter’s heart. He tried to contact the big and well established charities for help for these kids but it proved a little bit difficult. Peter then decided it was a good idea to start a charity that would address the issue to some extent. Thus, in July 2007, Dr Peter N Njenga PhD, founded this Dr Njenga Foundation Charity (previously called Dr Njenga Foundation of Sustainable HIV/AIDS Projects) which was registered under the Society Act of British Columbia, Canada. In May 2008, the first fundraising dinner activity was held in Cloverdale, BC, Canada and gross donations of $7200 (net about $5850) was realized to construct a shelter for orphans and mentally challenged children in Nairobi City. The original plan was to buy a property to build the facility instead of renting, but the cost of that plot was raised by the owner and it became too expensive to buy given the limited salary Peter was getting. However, in December 2008, Peter decided to donate 1/4 acre of his property in Kenya to facilitate the construction of the orphanage. Peter said: “Albeit many problems that almost destroyed me, I met Jennifer Kube in mid 2009 who has wholeheartedly helped to navigate this Charity to where it is now!”. Thus, in June 2010, Jennifer and Peter organized the second fundraising dinner which was held in Richmond BC, Canada to commemorate 100 km walk that was initiated by a 10 year old boy called Zayd Hasan. The function raised $4200. Thank you Zayd and may God Bless you as well. On June 30 2010, Peter went to Kenya at his cost to initiate the construction of a shelter for the homeless orphans (orphans that are not so lucky to have relatives to take care of them). Through strict cost controls and supervision, a permanent orphanage was constructed using blocks at a cost of $8350. The charity was later uplifted by Canadian Government and given the Charitable status in November 2010.
In November 2012, Jennifer and Peter went to Kenya to ensure that the new Orphanage admitted 23 needy children. These kids are now given accommodation, food, clothing, and school fees. Originally, the kids were going to Kamuchege Primary School. But in 2017, the 22 kids were transferred to St Lawrence Catholic Primary school and one girl is in Linet Girls High School.
Over the years, the Orphanage has been connected with electricity and a water bore-hole with electrical pump. This also includes a new temporary boys dormitory, kitchen , and a septic field - tank.
Our success story is based on 100% philanthropic activities. The current and previous directors and officers have never been paid salaries or benefits . Thus all donations goes to help the needy.
